Return to Running
For years we have heard clients regrets of having to give up running. We heard you and immersed ourselves in developing the only program of its kind. It's time to do something about it.
An all encompassing Return to Running program, that will cover all aspects of biomechanics, physiology, physical therapy, wellness and nutrition. Developed and implemented by medically trained practitioners from a variety of backgrounds, your program will assess your individual needs and create the best customized treatment to help you return to the sport of running.
If you have stopped running because of pain or problems with your feet, ankles, knee, hips or back and you long to return to the sport, then this is the program for you.
If you never found a sport that gave you the enjoyment that running did, then this program is for you.
As running can be extremely hard on your body and joints, there a a few steps that one can take to reintroduce running their life. Here are 8 areas that we address.
- Biomechanics: Proper body alignment and posture will assure that the body is functioning as it was designed to operate which will put the least stress on your muscles, tendons and joints.
- Weight: Losing those extra pounds and maintaining a healthy body weight to decrease the compressive forces that are acquired with the impact of running.
- Injury: Previous injuries and their causes need to be addressed preventatively
- Supplements: A regular regime of Glucosamine sulphate and other cartilage building supplements can be useful in maintaining healthy joint cartilage.
- Cross training: Mixing up the forms of exercise i.e. swimming, biking, elliptical, etc. will also decrease the overall accumulation of compressive forces to the joints of the lower extremity.
- Stretch: This is possibly one of the most important and useful things that a person can do for themselves to function most efficiently is to stretch routinely.
- Technique: Proper technique is essential in decreasing the stress on the body. A scientific fore-foot running technique can greatly reduce the impact.
- Nutrition: A tailored diet is essential to a pain-free, high-performing body. Food-allergy tests can be used to determine the best foods for a runner helping reducing inflammation.
A very useful tool, but it may not be available to all clients, is the Hydrotrack or underwater treadmill. Obviously with the buoyancy factor of the water, compressive forces will be substantially eliminated.
Program Length: 2-day 1/night OR 6-day/ 6-night
