Frequently Asked Questions >>
What can I expect from a visit to Aspen Back?
1) A THOROUGH ASSESSMENT
Although a MRI/ X-ray can reveal a lot about your condition, we at Aspen Back know that there is far more to back pain than your diagnosis or MRI report. We will look at you through the eyes of an Orthopedic, a Chiropractor, a Physical Therapist, a Pilates instructor and so on to provide a tailored solution for your back condition.
We assess the following:
- Posture: We use hi-tech photographs so that we can gauge your posture progress.
- Skeletal Structure: We make use of X-rays or MRI’s when necessary. Each vertebras movement is assessed for alignment and restrictions.
- Core Strength: We are able to precisely detect where you are weak or vulnerable to injury.
- Soft Tissue Status: We assess related muscles closely for imbalances, spasms, abnormalities or trigger point activity.
- Flexibility: Specific muscles will be tested for suppleness which is closely related to back pain.
- Physical Condition: Weight, body composition, and cardiovascular fitness are looked at to uncover possible impacts on your spine.
- Neurological System: Your nervous system will be screened for underlying disease, balance and coordination
- Psychological Approach: Our questionnaires assess mental and emotional stress; time dependency, lifestyle factors and the mental outlook of your spine.
2) CARING AND FOCUSED THERAPY
Based on your assessment, we design a solution to your back pain. Our experienced practitioners then walk you through activities and therapies that will give you the most dramatic long-term relief.
3) EDUCATION AND FOLLOW-UP
We at Aspen Back pride ourselves in solving your problem by not just providing you with a temporary fix. To do this we heavily educate and give you the tools and programs to permanently erase your back condition.
How does Aspen Back Institute achieve such amazing results?
Our strength lies in:
1. OUR ASSESSMENT: Aspen Back Institute makes use of detailed assessments that look beyond an MRI. We feel that the true causes of back related problems are most often overlooked therefore we look at postural photographs, strength, flexibility, alignment, and mental/emotional components. These tell us far more about yourself and your condition and, most importantly, reveal what can be done to correct your condition.
2. OUR PROGRAM: From day one, we get you started on activities, exercises and learning that can change your life. We have brought the most effective therapies from all disciplines and your program is designed specifically for you from these. This means that you go at your pace and only focus on what will bring you the greatest results.
3. OUR CARE: Each client at the Institute feels like they are our most important client. We care greatly about your wellbeing, recovery and future and realize our reputation relies on exceeding expectation.
4. OUR FOCUS: By specializing on spine related activities, we have done more research, obtained the finest equipment and spent thousands of hours focusing on being the best back care in the world.
Can everyone be helped?
Yes, but to different degrees. We have found that 5% of our clients will have to undergo surgical intervention. These clients remain very grateful for receiving an honest opinion, advice and information on what they can do to prepare for surgery, where they can go, and on safety and recovery. Many of these clients will return for post surgical rehab and conditioning to prepare for their active lifestyles.
How will I spend my time at the Institute?
Once being assessed, we plan a program specifically for you. A day at the Institute may include working with several skilled doctors or therapists for 2 or 3 hours then some empowering learning plus a ‘healthy back’ or tai-chi class and some. You will undergo deep tissue and flexibility work; specific strengthening and relaxation exercises; alignment and if you still want more we have the world-class Remede Spa below us with specifically trained massage therapists just waiting to squeeze any remaining tension out of you.
I have been diagnosed with herniated discs or narrowing. Can anything be done?
Yes, there is far more to back pain than herniated discs or diagnosis. An MRI may show you have a problem, but nearly everyone over forty has something on their MRI, many without pain. We have uncovered countless times when the pain was not even spine related or was misdiagnosed. Most of our clients have MRI’s that range from worrisome to scary. This doesn’t mean that they are stuck with bad backs. In fact, the greater majorities are feeling better than ever and are more active than before they had the pain to start.
Does Insurance Pay?
Most clients report getting between 25-75% of their costs of a program back. Should your care warrant one, we will provide a script for care. This, with your coded invoices should be sent to your insurer for reimbursement. We encourage you to check before booking a program how much your insurer would pay for 1 complete orthopedic assessment and 15 sessions of 60-min physical therapy in a week. Many have limits per day or on physical therapy. Regardless of reimbursement, we promise a life-changing experience. Nearly 100% of clients report highest satisfaction and value for money.
